Web site design process

When designing a website, we always follow a series of questions and steps to ensure your needs as a client are met, and that everybody is clear on specific website design specifications and functionality of the web site.

Before starting to creating a web site, it is important for us to understand exactly what is required of the website. We achieve this by evaluating:

  • The nature of the business
  • Existing web sites in a related industry
  • The needs & expectations of the client
  • The needs & expectations of the prospective visitors

Once all of the above factors have been evaluated, we can pool together all of the requirements & expectations and begin working on the actual design and structure of the web site! One thing to bear in mind: The needs & expectations of the prospective visitors are often completely different from those of the actual client, and it's therefore important for us to establish this early in the design process.

Once a design and structure has been agreed, we will ask you for the content of each page to be used on the web site. Unless otherwise agreed, all web site content should be supplied by you as you would like it to appear in the web site. If you prefer to supply draft text, our skilled writers can rework your content to suit the style and function of your new web site. This should be discussed when your website is being planned, as in most cases it will add time onto the project.

At this stage, we revisit an old crossroad: web development. If it has been established that you need web development to complete your web site, we'll continue with our web development process. Otherwise, we'll check that everything works properly, make sure you're happy with everything that has been done, and finally plan a release process for your brand new web site!
